Patriotic/Pioneer Quotes Contest

In the United States, July is a big month which starts off with a big bang...literally.  July 4th is our Independence Day - a time to celebrate freedom, brotherhood, and the birth of our nation with parades, loud bands, picnics or camp outs, lots of family or friends, and of course lots and lots of fireworks.  Here in Utah, we don't just start the month of July with a big bang, we end it that way too!  July 24th is also Utah's Pioneer Day when we celebrate again religious freedom, brotherhood, and the time when we became a part of the United States.  It is also a time when we especially remember those who have come before us, in particular those pioneers who came west and those who were here to greet them.


So to honor these, we are going to open our second contest with a double subject quotes contest to match the double celebratory month.  This is done through The Handmade Heritage, As before, you simply need to leave your favorite quote/quotes in the comments section of the post on The Handmade Heritage site (click here) though as always we reserve the right to edit quotes posted there for content.  I will set the poll up at the top right of the home page to this site which will let everyone vote on their favorite (at least once a day) anonymously.  We will be checking/updating the poll at least once a day (sometimes more often when possible).  You will have until July 24th at 11:59 p.m. to submit your quotes for the poll, and then everyone will have until 11:59 p.m. July 30 to vote.  The winning quote will be announced July 31st.  The winner will receive a plaque featuring the winning quote lovingly detailed by hand.



Please be aware of a couple of things:
First of all, because of the nature of google polls, once voting begins I have to manually track the votes for each quote before any new quotes are added.  That means that the poll results that are shown on the site are not always accurate.  Please be assured that we are tracking the voting poll results continuously ourselves.


Secondly, we do not discriminate on the sources of the quotes so long as they are legal.  In other words, whether you find them in a book, online through any site, or even verbal sources from yourselves or friends.  The only thing that we cannot do is break copyrights.


Thirdly, we do also keep the voting going in person when we go to various shows and markets.  So you could even come down and visit us in person to put your mark next to your favorite and get an extra vote for the day!


Last but not least is this simple encouragement: the more you spread the word about your entering this contest, the more people come and check out the poll to vote for you, the more chances you have at winning!  So spread the word, share our button,  and encourage everyone you know to visit us often!
